Wirral singer, Alaur launches A-Grade Heartbreaker single
Alaur, aka Laura Griffiths from Moreton, Wirral dropped into the studios last Friday 31st May, on launch day of her brand new single A Grade Heartbreaker to chat to Presenter and Chair, Steve Evans.
Alaur has always had a passion for music since an early age, being born into a musical family, and having a grandad who was a successful opera singer helped and inspired her. Also, coming from an Irish background, Laura started singing in the Liverpool, Irish Centre with the tin whistle, banjo and eventually singing and continuing this through her school life. Then in 2023 Alaur graduated from LIPA, culminating in performing in front of a host of willing students for over 40 minutes. Laura is no stranger to performing for a crowd though, having more recently sang for 13,000 fans at a music event!
But her life has not been without setbacks along the way. Alaur was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2020 which threatened to permanently damage her vocal chords. She had to have treatment three times, and this did mean she lost her voice temporarily, but thankfully she fully recovered. Since then, she has gone from strength to strength performing gigs all over the Wirral and Liverpool.
A-Grade Heartbreaker was released on Friday 31st May. A song written in only fifteen minutes! But then, thousands of the best songs have been written in a brief time by songwriters, so Alaur is no exception. Over this last weekend Alaur performed at gigs to promote the single release, with another launch party at the Swinging Arm in Birkenhead on Saturday 1st June.
For the sharp eyed amongst you, Alaur is an anagram of Laura, this is her new stage name since the start of the year. New year, new name to help launch her musical career to new heights.
Listen to Alaur now on the link below and hear all about how she’s gone from tin whistle and banjo, to hopefully the verge of a successful singing career once a record artist signs her up!
