Mask Campaign Launched

Mask Campaign Launched Radio Clatterbridge is backing the campaign to help hundreds of head and neck cancer patients in the Health Park. Clatterbridge Your Cancer Centre wants the public to help raise £100,000 towards the appeal for a new Mask Moulding Unit at Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology. Manager of the department Dr Keiran Wood and fundraiser Marie Turnbull popped into the studio this morning to talk about the procedure. They told John Roberts how patients wear the masks to protect other non cancerous parts of their body from the radiation used in treatment. The department where the work is undertaken is over 40 years old and in desperate need of refurbishment. The fund-raising campaign was launched by comedian and actor Ricky Tomlinson. Anyone who wants to make a donation can call the Donations Department on 0151 482 7948 or go to their website, yourclatterbridge.org.uk.
