Behind the scenes at Mowgli

Listeners to the Radio Clatterbridge Coffee Club have been given an exclusive look behind the scenes at one of Liverpool's most successful eateries.

Mowgli Street Food has raised £80,000 for The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity so we grabbed them for a chat before they took a tour around the centre to see how the money is being used.

Mowgli is the brainchild of owner Nisha Katona who describes herself as a food evangelist on a one-woman mission to change the business model for the restaurant industry.

Her communications manager Nick Blair joined head chef Gav and supervisors Laura and Sean in the studio.

Presenters Ian Grant and Helen Sestan heard how the business introduced a discretionary £1 donation to all bills in January 2016 to help transform cancer care.

Thousands of customers have agreed to the donation with some going even further when learning about the work of The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.

It came after Mowgli supported the charity by adding a special chemotherapy inspired dish to the menu, called Keema Therapy!

The first branch opened on Bold Street four years ago and is now expanding across the country.

The funds are helping with the creation of Clatterbridge's first cancer centre for Liverpool but Mowgli is also helping to raise awareness of the new site.
