Chairman to step down

The current chairman of Radio Clatterbridge has announced to members that he will step down from the role.

It means the charity is seeking a replacement for Steve Lord in the new year.

Steve Lord

The Teatime Show presenter has been in the position for seven years.

Steve wrote to his fellow volunteers to explain the decision.

"I feel the time is right for someone else to take over with fresh ideas to continue taking the station forward."- Steve Lord, chairman

Steve started at Radio Clatterbridge more than three decades ago when he was just 14.

During his time in the role as chairman, he spearheaded the move to begin broadcasting on Medium Wave and introduced a new style of community broadcasting to the health park.

"I’m very proud of the station we all have helped to create since we launched on AM nearly five years ago. The station is in now in a far stronger position than it has ever been" - Steve Lord, chairman

Steve is expected to continue presenting his weekday afternoon programmes but will hand over the reins of Wednesday's Live From The Bridge to co-presenter Becky Hardman.

The new chairperson will be elected at the charity's annual general meeting in January.
