Status Quo top listeners' chart

Radio Clatterbridge listeners have voted a Status Quo track their most wanted song of 2016.

The news was revealed just a week after the death of band frontman Rick Parfitt.

Despite it being nearly 40 years since it was a hit single, Rockin' All Over The World went straight to the top of our 2016 Request Chart completely displacing last year's winner, Uptown Funk.

In one of his final gigs, Parfitt joined Francis Rossi on stage to headline this year's Wirral Rocks concert in aid of Clatterbridge-based Wirral Hospice St John's.

Presenter Dave Adams, who compiled the list from 870 requests over the last twelve months, says the May gig had a lasting effect on listeners.

"There was such a long lead up to the Quo gig for the hospice that they then seemed to stay in the consciousness of those at the hospital." - Dave Adams, Presenter

Elsewhere in the chart, The Beatles were crowned listeners' most favourite artists followed by Queen and Frank Sinatra.

Just 8 tracks from last year's song chart make it into this year's, with just over half never having featured in the top 30 countdown before.

Abba's Dancing Queen is our most consistent song.

Over the last five years, it has been in either 5th, 6th or 7th place.
